A Gift That Lasts. Care That Endures.

Morris Financial Concepts is proud to sponsor the MFC Palliative Care Endowment — a permanent fund through the MUSC Foundation dedicated to compassionate care for patients and families facing life's most difficult moments.

$0 has been raised of $100,000

Every contribution, at any level, is permanently invested in the endowment and generates support for palliative care at MUSC forever. Once the fund reaches $100,000, it begins making annual payouts to support palliative care programs, and never stops.

Where Your Gift Goes to Work

Contributions to the MFC Palliative Care Endowment support two distinct programs within MUSC’s palliative care infrastructure:

Pediatric Palliative Care

MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children's Hospital
MUSC's pediatric palliative care program provides specialized clinical support including pain and symptom management, psychosocial care, family communication, and bereavement services. This program represents one of the most critical, and most underfunded, dimensions of pediatric medicine.

Palliative Care Nursing Education

MUSC College of Nursing
The future of palliative care is built on the nurses who deliver it. Endowment support for the College of Nursing funds the education and training of both current and future nurses in specialized palliative care skills — ensuring that children and families receive expert, empathetic support now and for years to come.

Major or Transformational Gift ($25,000+)

A major or transformational gift is an investment in lasting impact, fueling the priorities that define the organization’s future. Gifts of $25,000 or more create meaningful momentum, enabling initiatives, long-term sustainability, and measurable change at a scale that would not otherwise be possible.

For Morris Financial Concepts Clients

The most impactful gift is often not a simple check. Depending on your financial picture, there may be a more advantageous way to give, and your advisor can help you determine the right approach.

We encourage MFC clients to speak with their advisor before giving to identify the approach that best aligns with their tax situation and financial goals.

The Case for Permanent Giving

MFC has supported palliative care at MUSC for years. As that relationship deepened, we made a firm decision to do more, not just as donors, but as partners. That commitment is taking shape in two ways:

The Endowment.

Annual giving is meaningful. But an endowment outlasts any single gift or campaign – the principal is preserved, returns fund the programs, and the impact compounds indefinitely. Every child facing serious illness deserves compassionate care. This fund helps ensure that care is always there.

  • The principal stays. Forever. Only returns are distributed — the fund never depletes.
  • It compounds like a good investment. Because it is one.
  • This is what we do. Long-horizon stewardship, applied to something that matters deeply to us.

Office Hours.

We are launching a pro bono financial planning program with MUSC’s palliative care team — making MFC advisors available at no cost to patients and families navigating financial decisions during serious illness.

Because the need doesn’t stop at the bedside.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. The MUSC Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization. All contributions are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. MFC clients are encouraged to speak with their advisor about the most advantageous approach for their situation.

Once the fund reaches $100,000, it begins annual payouts in accordance with the MUSC Foundation’s standard payout policy — distributing earnings while preserving the principal permanently.

The MUSC Foundation holds and invests the fund according to its investment policy. Annual earnings are distributed to designated programs; the principal remains intact indefinitely.

The fund is not tied to a single program or line item. MUSC’s palliative care team can direct resources where they are needed most — clinical care, nursing education, family support, research, or community outreach.

All contributions currently support the unified MFC Palliative Care Endowment, benefiting both designated programs. Contact Kaitlin Epperson directly to discuss specific intentions.

All contributions will be directed to palliative care at MUSC regardless of whether the goal is reached. We are committed to full funding.

Yes, and we encourage it. Please indicate the honoree’s name at the time of your contribution.

Office Hours is a pro bono initiative launching in partnership with MUSC’s palliative care team. MFC advisors will be available at no cost to patients and families for financial guidance — including benefits navigation, estate planning basics, and managing financial hardship during serious illness.
